Centre done injustice to AP in Budget: CPI

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh unit of Communist Party of India on Monday said the Centre has meted out great injustice to the residuary AP State in the Union budget proposals announced in the Lok Sabha. The party also criticized the Centre for not mentioning about special status to the State.
“In the Rs 19.78 lakh crore Union budget, AP was sectioned a mere Rs 100 crore for the Polavaram project which is an act of eyewash. There was no mention of steel factory in Cuddapah. There was also no mention of special package for north coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. There was also no mention of any favors to farmers,” said party general secretary K. Ramakrishna in a pressnote here on Monday.
The AP CPI leader also said the Centre has totally ignored the promises made during bifurcation of the State like allotment of adequate funds for establishing national educational institutes and central universities. He also suggested to the Chief Minister and Union ministers from the State to exert pressure on the Centre and get special status to the State. (NSS)
