Chacha-Bhatija duo rob ATM in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Rs. 10.36 lakh was stolen from an ATM by a 35-year-old daily wage earner; he broke the ATM machine as his father was sick who works as guard at the booth.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the culprit and his uncle who helped him arrested using clues from CCTV camera by the Kukatpally police.The suspects are Gangi Mahesh and his uncle Gangi Kistaiah.

The ICICI Bank ATM which was robbed is located in Jayanagar, the two security guards were there two handle in two shifts. Narayana works during day and Mallaiah at night. Instead of Mallaiah his sons were working due to the illness since some days.

Mahesh along with his brother came near ATM centre to sleep around 2.am, Mahesh said his brother to go to home and sleep and that he will take care here.

Police received a complaint about the ATM has been broken and the amount is stolen from it on Saturday. Mahesh told he went home and slept and later in the morning he came and found the machine was broken and due to fear he did not said it to anyone.

Police found that the ATM was loaded Rs 20 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination notes on January 20. The CCTV camera installed in the booth were also been cut but they didn’t noticed the third high resolution camera installed in the booth. “By analyzing that camera footage and mobile phones active at the location at the time of the offence the suspects were traced,” Kukatpally inspector K. Purushotham said.

The culprits used an iron rod to break the machine and had shared the booty equally. Police arrested them and recovered Rs 9.18 lakh. The duos were remanded to judicial custody.
