China: Civil servants, teachers and students banned from fasting during Ramadan

Xinjiang: In an attempt to prevent people from fasting during Ramadan in the predominantly Muslim province of Xinjiang, China government on its website asked party members, cadres, civil servants, students and minors not to fast during Ramadan. Govt. notice also ordered not to take part in any religious activities.

According to the report published in One India, the human rights groups have blamed clashes between the region’s 10 million-strong Uighar Muslim minority and state security forces on religious and cultural restrictions.

Further, Chinese authorities ordered restaurants to open in normal hours.
