City double murder accused nabbed in Gujarat

A jilted lover Amit Singh, who caused sensation in the city recently by fatally stabbing two sisters in Chaitanyapuri area, was nabbed by police in Gujarat State on Tuesday morning.

On a tip-off that Amit Singh was hiding in Gujarat State, a team of SOT police went there and took the culprit into custody. It may be mentioned here that Amit Singh raided the rented room of the deceased in Chaitanyapuri on July 14 and stabbed Srilekha, a student. When her elder sibling Yamini Saraswathi came to her rescue, the youth inflicted knife wounds on her too killing them on the spot.

After the double murder, the assailant hid in the LB Nagar area. After enquiring with the killer’s friends in Narayanguda and Ibrahimpatnam colleges, the police visited Shadnagar, the native place of the accused and found his family members missing and their house locked.

After the double murder, Amit Singh reportedly rushed to the Secunderabad Railway Station on July 14 and fled by catching a Delhi-bound train. Later, he reportedly went to Gujarat and stayed there. (NSS)
