City Mayor to Work for ‘Beggar-Free’ Hyd

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has stated that he will take measures to see that there won’t be fake beggars in Hyderabad City. The GHMC will weed out fake beggars, he said making it clear that they were trying to transform Hyderabad City as a universal city.
Rammohan visited an Orphanage Home at Choutuppal in Yadadri-Bhongir district here on Wednesday. On the occasion, Rammohan released ‘Beggar Free Hyderabad’ pamphlets. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the GHMC has identified that there were 10,000 beggars in Hyderabad City. The fact came to the GHMC notice that only some of them were real beggars among the 10,000, he said and alleged that a huge business was going on in the name of beggars in Hyderabad. There were drug sellers and eve teasers in the name of beggars in the city, he stated. He lamented that there were incidents of the beggars mafia injecting narcotics to the children to make them beg. He said that the GHMC will rehabilitate real beggars as Hyderabad City was transforming as universal City. Fake beggars will be sent to their native places, he said. (NSS)
