CM grieves Palvai’s demise; orders funeral with police honours

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed his shock over the sudden demise of Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy.

In a statement here today, the CM has recalled his personal association with Reddy, who had a long political career and conveyed his condolences to the members of his family. The CM spoke to MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, who was with Govardhan Reddy in the Parliamentary standing committee, which met at Kullu and found out the details.

            The CM has instructed Chief Secretary SP Singh and Delhi Resident Commissioner Arvind Kumar to arrange a chartered flight to bring the mortal remains of Goverdhan Reddy to Hyderabad. The CM also asked MPs K Keshav Rao and Jithendra Reddy to oversee the arrangements for shifting the body and other related program.The Chief Minister also asked the Chief Secretary to make arrangements to conduct the funeral of Palvai Govardhan Reddy with police honours.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and Home Minister N Narsimha Reddy today condoled the sudden demise of Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy. They recalled the relation with the congress leader who was a long time politician form Telangana. Srihari and Narsimha Reddy conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.

Srihari recalled that Govardhan Reddy fought for Telangana and tried his best to develop his constituency and the state as a cabinet minister. Palvai is known for fighting against undemocratic policies in the party Srihari said. Death of Palvai is a loss to Telangana State Srihari said and expressed sympathies to the family members.

Narsihma Reddy said that Palvai was a noted leader for his straight forward talk. He was sensitive and outspoken and offered services during his long political career. We are making arrangements for shifting the body as per Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directive he said. MPs K Keshava Rao and Jithender Reddy, Congress leaders and others also condoled the death of Palvai and recalled their association with him. (NSS)
