Coast Guard rescues 13 persons in AP


Chennai: Coast Guard personnel today rescued 13 persons, including three children, stranded in flood waters in Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh following heavy rains.

“Coast Guard station Krishnapatnam rescued 13 persons, including four women and three children, from flood affected Muthukur Mandal in Nellore district adjoining Tamil Nadu,” a Coast Guard release here said.

On receipt of information from local police about stranded families due to heavy rainfall, a rubber boat was dispatched along with a team which rescued all the 13 persons with the help of local police, it said.

Nellore, about 170 km from here, is experiencing heavy rains due to the presence of a low pressure area.
