Col. Purohit’s bail petition opposed in court

Mumbai: Mumbai’s MCOCA court heard the bail petition of the main accused of Malegaon bomb blast 2008 accused Col. Srikant Purohit. Mr. Shareef Shaik, Advocate told the court that Nisar Ahmed Syed Bilal’s son Azhar was killed in this accident. The court should give an opportunity to present the objections and pleaded that the accused Col. Purohit should not be released since he is involved in a terrorist case. His release is likely to affect the case.

The advocate pointed out that the other main accuse Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s bail petition was rejected on the same ground. Mr. Avinash Rasal, advocate representing NIA told the court that it is a fact that in the bomb blast of Malegaon in 2008, Azhar was killed. Now that all the evidences against Col. Purohit have been presented before the court, there is no need for any further arguments. Hence the petition opposing the bail should be rejected. Special judge, Takawale, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, reserved his judgment.
