Communal riots erupted in Nashik – Police firing kills one


Nashik : A tribal youth (Bhagirath Choudhary) was killed and his dead body was thrown in a well belonging to Muslims on 7th July. This incident erupted communal violence in Harsul village in Trimbak Tehsil, 60 km. away from Nashik.


The tribals had given a call for bandh on Tuesday demanding action against the culprits which resulted in communal violence. The Tribals started looting and setting ablaze the properties of the Muslims.


Police resorted to lathicharge and used tear gas shells which failed. At last, the police opened fire on the mob killing one person.


Police claimed that this incident is not commencted with Sinhastha Kumbh Mela which started in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.


Strangely enough, this incident took place when Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister and Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, CM Maharashtra were present in Nashik to inaugurate Kumbh Mela.
