Complete water scheme by end of 2017; CM offers incentive to contractors for quick work

Expressing satisfaction over phase of the Mission Bhagiratha scheme works, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today asked the officials to see that piped water is supplied to every household by 2017 end.

At a review meeting at MCR HRD here on Monday, the Chief Minister gave a pat to the department officials for bringing accolades to the water scheme by working day and night. KCR directed them to overcome teething problems while laying quality pipelines in rural areas and fitting taps in every household is top priority. KCR directed the officials to expedite the works and ensure quality in laying pipelines and using equipment while taking up works related to intake wells, water treatment plants, sub stations and GLBR.

The Centre is planning to implement the water scheme and six States have already conducted a study, he claimed. Vemula Prashanth Reddy with cabinet rank is equal minister to review the water scheme and officials should cooperate for expeditious completion of the works, KCR stated. “We are planning to allot more funds in the budget as the State government will get Rs 8000 crore in addition to Rs 22000 crore promised by various financial institutions”, the Chief Minister said. There was no paucity of funds and will pay bills on time, he said, adding that Rural Water Supply wing will be strengthened and maintain the scheme in future.

KCR offered to provide 1.5 per cent incentive to the contractors if internal works in rural areas are completed on time. He also asked them to take IT wing suggestions while laying fiber optical cable simultaneously using better quality pipes for water scheme. A plan should be ready to supply 24-hour water supply in all 365 days as per the scheme, a release said. (NSS)
