Concrete steps essential for 12% reservations to Muslims – Allocate 12% budget: Amer Ali Khan suggests

Hyderabad: The policy adopted by TRS Govt. in connection with providing 12% reservation for Muslims is not only regrettable but also horrible. TRS had made election promises which it did not implement after assuming power. It is causing anxiety among the Muslims. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Amer Ali Khan, News Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily while addressing the gathering at the hunger strike camp in support of 12% reservations for Muslims organized at Nizamabad. Continuing his speech, Mr. Amer Ali Khan told that it is your promise which we are reminding you and hence why should you feel troubled?

Mr. Amer Ali Khan referred to Siasat’s awareness program organized in the districts and told that this campaign would continue till the desired results are achieved. Muslims would not bow down to any pressure. Mr. Amer Ali Khan further told that the only way to eradicate economic backwardness of the Muslims is to provide reservation to them for which Govt. has to take concrete steps.

Referring to 50% ceiling imposed by Supreme Court, Mr. Khan said that State Governments have the authority to exceed this limit but they have to submit concrete proof. Muslims are economically backward and they need reservations for their betterment.

Mr. Amer Ali Khan further told that only BCs Commission can recommend reservations. Although, Govt. had constituted Sudhir Commission of Inquiry and BCs Commission but no concrete steps has been taken in this direction. He mentioned that Govt. has a comprehensive survey report about the economic backwardness of the Muslims. BCs Commission can also prepare an effective report on the basis of previous surveys. Mr. Amer Ali Khan also suggested that if the issue of Muslim reservation is facing legal complications, Govt. can allocate 12% amount of the State budget for Muslims which works out to Rs. 5000 crore. Govt. can spend this money on the welfare activities for Muslims by consulting the experts Muslim personalities. In this way, concrete steps could be ensured for the development of Muslims.

It may be mentioned that Minority leaders of Congress, Mr. Sameer Ahmed and his colleagues had organized a one day hunger strike camp. Mr. Amer Ali Khan categorically said that the campaign Siasat has launched will not be affected by any political power. Govt. should keep in mind that if they have “Kursi” (Chair) the Muslims have “Ayatul Kursi” (A verse in the Quran).

Mr. Amer Ali Khan told that Siasat Urdu Daily would continue to exert its pressure on the Govt. till the democratic right of the Muslims is achieved. If the Govt. takes positive steps instead of pleasing the Muslims verbally, we would definitely welcome it.

It may be mentioned that Mr. Amer Ali Khan had presented a memorandum to Mr. KCR during the Iftar party held at Nizam College but the Govt. is adopting dilly dallying policy. He appealed to all the Muslims to continue their pressure on the Govt. Addressing the protesting leaders of the hunger strike camp, he recited the following couplet:
“Hamesha din ko din aur raat ko hum raat likhenge
Hamare Mulk ke jaise hain haalat likhenge
Siwaye Allah ke Darte nahin hum kisi se bhi
Jo hogi qaum ke haaq mein wohi har baat likhenge”.
