New Delhi: Delhi Congress today criticised the Kejriwal government for going on a “publicity” campaign after announcing loan of Rs 550 crore to municipal corporations hit by fund crunch, and said the erstwhile Congress government had given Rs 1500 crore to the civic bodies without creating “any noise”.
“Congress government, led by Sheila Dikshit, gave Rs 1,000 crore to the municipal corporations under wage and means account in 2012-13 and again Rs 500 crore in 2013-14 without causing any noise but the Kejriwal government, after announcing loan of Rs 550 crore, is busy with its publicity drive,” said Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken.
The situation has worsened in Delhi and people are suffering due to pile-up of garbage across the city, he said, adding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has now “come out of his slumber” by announcing the loan.
“At a time when Delhi is dotted with garbage dumps and there is danger of spread of diseases, Kejriwal has woken up to announce the loan and seek all the publicity for it,” he said.
