Congress’ behaviour in Parliament ‘totally unacceptable’: Naidu

New Delhi : Hitting out at the Congress for disrupting Parliamentary proceedings today, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday rebuked the grand old party saying that creating a ruckus and raising slogans against the speaker was ‘totally unacceptable’.

“Why don’t they allow the discussion, sit through the discussion, join the discussion if they want, why are they obstruction and raising slogans against the speaker. Are they afraid, a re they worried?, moreover, They are taking an excuse and saying the matter is under adjudication . Ayodhya matter has been under adjudication for many years , but we have discussed it many times,” he told reporters here.

“We have been discussing pending issues every year in Parliament. And suddenly you remember that the Aircel-Maxis case is before a tribunal. Why are you stopping the debate and discussion? House has to give opportunity to everybody. Making comments against the speaker and raising slogans against the speaker is totally unacceptable,” he added.

Following AIADMK members’ demand for action against former Union Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis issue, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan allowed them to raise the matter later in the day.

Protesting against the Speaker’s decision to allow discussion on the matter, Congress members rushed into the Well and raised slogans. (ANI)
