Congress does not want farmers to prosper: Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said that the Congress was making all out efforts to create hurdles in the development of the state.

Speaking to media persons here, Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders were stooping low to mislead people of the state to show the ruling party in bad light. He alleged that the Congress leaders resorted forgery by filing a petition in the High Court against the Mallanna Sagar project in the name of a dead farmer. He said that this incident shows as to how Congress could go to any extent to gain political mileage.

The minister said that when Congress was in power it completely ignored the irrigation sector and was now wary of the TRS’ pro-farmers initiatives. Congress does not want the welfare of the farmers and is adamant in creating hurdles in the pro-farmers initiatives of the TRS government, the minister added.

Harish Rao assured to provide irrigation to 40 acres of land in Andol Assembly constituency for the Rabi crop from Singur irrigation project. He also promised to bring Godavari water to Siddipet by December. (INN)
