Congress, YSRCP creating hurdles to irrigation projects: Palamur MP

Hyderabad: TRS MP from Mahbubnagar Jithender Reddy today lashed out at Telangana Congress president Utham Kumar Reddy and YSR Congress Party chief and MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for coming in the way of irrigation projects and development process in Telangana State. These two parties are at their best to create hurdles to the irrigation projects as they could not digest development of Telangana, he charged.
Reacting on Utham’s letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan against Palamur Lift Irrigation Scheme and Jagan Reddy’s rhetoric against Palamur project, he accused them of creating hurdles to the project which will irrigate lakhs of acres in the district on completion. In his letter Utham complained to the Governor of irregularities being taking place in the Palamur lift scheme and sought his intervention.
The MP said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was holding talks with his Karnataka counterpart for the use of Krishna waters. He said the Congress, which involved in irregularities in many schemes during its regime was trying to impugn the TRS in this regard. The tenders are yet to be opened and process is still to be completed, he explained. Then Congress government had literally failed to complete the irrigation projects and swindled money, he charged.
Despite this, the Congress leader was deliberately making such allegations, he retorted. Utham Kumar Reddy was trying to malign the image of the TRS government for political mileage, he charged. The TRS leader asked the Opposition leaders to stop mud-slinging against the government which the people will oppose them. He said the previous YSR Government had indulged in irregularities in the irrigation sector. Utham was very much aware of such irregularities in irrigation tenders and leaders looted public money in the name of mobilization advances.
Jithendar also said the flagship program Mission Bhagiratha tenders were quoted for fewer funds as per norms and works are on fast pace. In spite of the complaints and hurdles created by the Opposition leaders, the government will go ahead with its plan of completing the project on time, he asserted. (NSS)
