Cyclone: Naidu asks Collectors to prevent loss of life

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today directed officials to take all precautionary steps to prevent loss of life in view of the looming “Ronu” cyclone threat.

In a teleconference held from his camp office with Chief Secretary S P Tucker,  Collectors of coastal districts and other senior officials, Naidu instructed them to plunge in immediate restoration of electric poles and lines, for uninterrupted power supply which were uprooted due to gusty winds and heavy rains. He called for immediate action from the District administration for restoration of normal life in the affected areas. “Set up rehabilitation centers in the affected areas to provide food and water to the needy”, the Chief Minister ordered.

 

The Chief Minister instructed the Collectors to keep the official machinery on toes to monitor relief and rescue measures at the ground level. He also asked them to plan rehabilitation centers as per the changing course of the cyclone in the State. The Chief Minister asked the officials to keep food and water packets ready and entrusted the job to the District Collectors. He asked the officials to keep track of the cyclone movement and pass on the real-time updates to help speed up the rehabilitation works. He directed to appoint Special officers to take stock of the situation and monitor the relief measures at the districts. He also directed Fire Services department, NDRF and SDRF teams to coordinate rescue operations in the affected areas. (NSS)
