New Delhi: A female nursing student from Kerala is in a critical after allegedly being forced to drink toilet cleaner during ragging.
According to a Times of India report, 19-year-old Aswathi, the first semester nursing student of Al Qamar College of Nursing at Gulbarga was forced to drink a toilet cleaning liquid by an 8-member gang of seniors.
She has been admitted to Intensive care unit (ICU) of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH) college with severe stomach problems.
Aswathi in her statement to the police said that she was tortured for over 5 months.
“I have been mentally tortured by my third year seniors in last five months. They told me that I am dark and that’s why no one likes me and I am left without a father. They used to force me to keep my hands lifted up. They held my mouth open and forced me to drink toilet cleaning lotion.”
However, the nursing college principal denied the case as a ragging incident.
Aswathi belongs to a poor family and had joined classes after getting a loan of Rs 4 lakhs, according to a report in Mathrubhumi.
