Union Minister for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatraya today emphasised need for preparing a long-term plan for de-silting and re-modelling of nalas in the capital city.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the rain-affected colonies and slums at Adarsh basti besides Narayanguda bridge along with Khairatabad BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, the Union minister said he will ensure funds from the Centre if the State government prepared a plan in this regard. The present state of nalas was due to negligence of earlier governments, who took temporary measures during rainy seasons and failed to take permanent steps, he said.  The Union minister also said there was a need to construct protection walls under a long-term plan on both sides of nalas to prevent inundation of habitant areas along with nalas in future.

Dattatraya also also visited GHMC control room at head office. (NSS)
