London : Downplaying his side’s unexpected defeat against Georgia in the warm-up game ahead of the Euro 2016, Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has called on his side not to get distressed with their recent defeat and urged them to focus on their title defence.

Spain were beaten 0-1 by a side ranked 137th in the world in their final warm-up friendly ahead of the European Championship.

Reflecting on the reigning European champions’ defeat, Bosque admitted that his players were overlapping frequently in the first-half of the match, the Guardian reported.

Commenting on striker Alvaro Morata’s omission from the squad due to a discomfort in his thigh, the coach said that they preferred not to play him in the match so that he could return to his top form in the Euro Cup opener.

Georgia broke the deadlock in the 40th minute of the match when an error from Spain striker Sergio Ramos allowed Tornike Okriashvili to open the account for his side.

Although midfielder Andres Iniesta had a chance to equalize the score for Spain in the second half, Georgia stood firm to seal a momentous win.

Spain, who will head into the Euro 2016 with the defeat, will open their campaign against Czech Republic at Stadium Municipal in France on Monday. (ANI)
