Delhi Daredevils remove Gary Kirsten from chief coach’s job

Delhi Daredevils today announced the removal of Gary Kirsten from chief coach’s job for the upcoming ninth season of the Indian Premier League.

A tremendously successful international coach, Kirsten, who guided India to their 2011 World Cup triumph, had a miserable two seasons with the Daredevils as the GMR group owned franchise finished in the bottom two.

Kirsten failed to provide the desired results and was not found in sync with demands of the T20 coaching.

That Daredevils never had any quality top-of-the-line Indian players in their line-up also added to their woes. Buying Yuvraj Singh for Rs 16 crore proved to be a bad move as he hardly contributed anything to the team’s performance.

“Gary, with his rich coaching experience made significant contribution towards our team culture and his work ethics were immaculate. We appreciate his contribution towards our team rebuilding process and would like to wish him the very best in all his future endeavors,” Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua said in a media release.
