Dhaka terror attack: BJP cautions Mamata Govt

Kolkata : In wake of the recent terror attack in Dhaka, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday asked Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Government in West Bengal to be careful.

“What was earlier taking place in Gulf countries like Iraq, today took place in Bangladesh. The West Bengal Government must be careful about it. The Government of India is careful. They are leaving the Muslims and killing all others in the name of religion.this should not be supported,” BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha told ANI.

Strongly condemning the terror attack, Sinha urged the Bangladesh Government to tackle the issue strictly.

“There should be a war against it.not war on field. It should aware the people. We strongly condemn it. I urge the Bangladesh Government to tackle this issue very strictly. We (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are with the people of Bangladesh,” he added.

At least 20 people were killed by the gunmen, who attacked the upscale cafe Holey Artisan in the diplomatic area of Dhaka on Friday.

The 12-hour-long hostage crisis at the cafe popular with foreigners ended after a two hour long assault by armed forces’ commandos killing six gunmen.

One assailant has been held by the security forces.

Most of the victims were killed brutally with sharp weapons.

Thirteen hostages, including two Sri Lankans and a Japanese, were rescued in the operation.

Though it was reported that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, the U.S. State Department has said it cannot yet be confirmed. (ANI)
