Drugs probe to continue, CM wants Hyderabad drugs-free: Padma Rao

Excise Minister T Padma Rao Goud today said the State government will not spare anyone with regard to the drugs case.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Padma Rao clarified that the investigation in the drug smuggling and consumption case was going on and action will be taken against cinema people or politicians if they were found involved in the drugs case. He said as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wants to make Hyderabad a Drugs-free city all possible measures were being taken in that direction. So far, 15 suspects were arrested, notices issued to 11 bars and 26 schools.

It was found that students in 27colleges and employees of 25 IT companies were in the drug case, he said, adding that Excise Director Akun Sabharwal will not succumb to threatening calls and will go ahead to trace the culprits. Goud has appealed to the parents of children to keep constant watch on their children going to schools and colleges and help banish the drug menace from the State. Stating that the State government would not dilute the drug case under any circumstances, the Excise Minister said he would not respond to provocative comments of AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh on drugs case. (NSS
