Ex-MP Sameer’s arrest: NCP cries vendetta, BJP welcomes move

Mumbai: Sharad Pawar-led NCP today dubbed the arrest of party leader Sameer Bhujbal by the Enforcement Directorate as an act of “political vendetta” by the ruling BJP.

“This is nothing but political vendetta by BJP,” a senior NCP leader said.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Kirit Somaiya welcomed the arrest. “We have done it. Sameer Bhujbal has been arrested by ED. Pankaj Bhujbal to follow,” Somaiya said.

ED arrested Samir, former MP and nephew of senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, in a money laundering case after the central agency conducted multiple searches in connection with its probe against Bhujbals and others.

“We are being harassed without any reason,” Chhagan Bhujbal said, reacting to Sameer’s arrest.

The arrest has been made without any evidence, the former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister said.
