With eye on UP polls, Rahul Gandhi reposes trust in Prashant Kishor

New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday confirmed the presence of poll strategist Prashant Kishor in a meeting to be chaired by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the national capital to chalk out the strategy for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls scheduled next year.

“The Congress leadership will discuss the future strategy in this meeting. All senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, will be present. Prashant Kishor will also be present,” said AICC general secretary Madhusudan Mistry.

Reports suggest that the Congress vice-president had earlier held meetings with the poll strategist, who is likely to pitch for a larger role for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the grand old party.

Kishor, who managed the poll campaigns of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and of Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance during the Bihar Assembly polls, would report directly to the Congress vice-president.

The Congress Party has decided to go solo in Uttar Pradesh where the Samajwadi Party and Bajuhan Samaj Party stand a fair chance in the polls. (ANI)
