The accused Naresh Daiya, is a former national level wrestler hailing from Karala village, and trains wrestlers at Chhatarsaaal stadium.

According to the 16-yr-old victim, who claims to be a national level kabaddi player, the accused took her to his house on 9 July on the pretext of introducing the young player to his friends and sexually abused her.

Though she was afraid to report the incident, the victim approached the Model Town Police station to register her complaint on Monday.

“After receiving the complaint, the girl was sent for medical examination at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, which confirmed rape. Based on the girl’s statement, a case under section 376 (rape) of the IPC, and several sections of the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) was registered at Model Town police station,” the officer added.
