Founder Mir Osman Ali Khan and Nizam’s family forgotten during OU centenary: M A Shabbir

Hyderabad: Leader of opposition in Telangana Legislative Council strongly protested against forgetting founder of the university Mir Osman Ali Khan and Nizam’s family on the occasion of Osmania University centenary celebrations.

Speaking to media after attending the function, Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the university was founded with Urdu as medium of instruction but the authorities virtually buried the Urdu language. He said KCR’s claim regarding Urdu and Nizam of Hyderabad proved hollow.

M A Shabbir asserted that the tributes could have been paid to Nizam by putting up his photo on the stage. Any member of the Nizam’s family could have been invited on the stage. University authorities’ prejudiced attitude is condemnable he said. He said president Pranab Mukherjee President Pranab Mukherjee described the last Nizam of Hyderabad State Mir Osman Ali Khan as a visionary. Mohammed Ali Shabbir pointed out that the president has recognised the services of Nizam of Hyderabad but Telangana government has not. He also observed that there was no welcome arches in Urdu language which exposed anti-Urdu attitude of the government.
