Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao today said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is committed for the welfare of the farmers and cane forward to offer Rs 4000 to each farmer towards fertilizers. The KCR Government has offered to provide fertilizers free of cost to the farmers from next financial year he said and attributed it as another feather in the TRS Government that has already waived of Rs 17000 cr crop loans. Impressed at the free fertilisers scheme of Telangana, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also come up with similar plan of offering fertilizers free of cost to the farmers he said. Participating at some development programs at Khammam district along with Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao and MLA J Venkat Rao he visited a few lakes and offered to develop them with funds. He said that Rallavagu project will be sanctioned soon and take up modernization of Errasani vagu and make efforts to irrigate 20000 acres under Kinnersani and Palemvagu.
Though the previous Congress regime did nothing for the cause of the farmers, its leaders are making false allegations against the government he alleged. The TRS Government, he said, is offering 9 hour power supply to agriculture during day hours and spent Rs 1000 cr for construction of godowns across the state. Marketyards are improved with more shops and facilities in districts. The TRS Government is offering minimum support price for groundnut crop which is sown more in Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts and already offered MSP to Redgram. We are making every effort to protect the interesets of the farmers and helping them overcome the problems by setting up more paddy purchase centers he said. The State Government made an appeal to the Centre to procure Chilli with MSP and taking necessary steps in Telangana. The government has ensured that the farmers are not put to hardship for fertilizers and seeds with adequate stocks in the market.
Mission Kakatiya is a great success as most of the lakes restored with abundant water resources helping the rural people get back to farm activity he said. Chief Minister is more focused on removing the bottlenecks of the farm activities and coming up with plans. Our aim is to irrigate one crore acres over a period of five years by completing irrigaiton projects on a war-footing, the minister remarked. (NSS)
