Gandhi docs inject infected saline to little girl; Kin stage dharna

In a bizarre incident that exposed the callousness and sorry-state-of-affairs prevailing in the government hospitals, insects were found in a saline bottle that was being administered to a six-year old child in Gandhi Hospital on Thursday.

The parents of the child, detecting insects in the saline bottle that was being administered and the condition of the girl worsening, raised a hue and cry and blamed the hospital authorities for the criminal negligence of the doctors and nurses. The saline bottle was immediately withdrawn. The condition of the girl remained steady.

Pacifying the parents and relatives of the child, Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr Masood assured them that he would take stern action against the erring staff and doctors. He also said the saline bottle will be sent for examination in laboratory and lodge a complaint with the TSMDCC.  (NSS)
