Garment outlets must use computers now to stay in business with GST on Textiles

Hyderabad: GST being imposed on various sectors from this fiscal year has aggravated not only the consumers as now they have to shell out money for the imposed taxes but the traders also.

GST has recently been imposed on Textiles as well which is a great concern as most of the sector lacks the use of technology with only limited amount of traders having knowledge about the use of computers.

A textile trader D. Shankar from Suryapet reacting to the GST on Textiles said, “Most traders have a poor educational background and have no skills at operating a computer” as most textiles shops and outlets in the state lack computers.

He added “It will lead to a burden of at least Rs 10,000 per month” as the GST requires computer-based taxation, where the traders should be uploading their sales of stock and goods details, they will be requiring an operator as well as computers to handle all these taxations and uploads.

According to a survey conducted by Telangana State Federation of Textile Association, it came out that as less as 11% of traders had computers and are well versed with its use said Mr Ammanabolu Prakash, president of the Telangana State Federation of Textile Association, reported DC.
