GHMC to coordinate with police to curb traffic congestions

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will coordinate with the Traffic Police to identify the alternative roads to curb traffic congestion and also to remove all the street light poles, transformers on the main roads.

This was decided during the convergence meeting held at the GHMC Headquarters on Saturday. The meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, TSSPDCL MD Raghuma Reddy, HMWS&SB MD Dana Kishore, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jithender, District Collectors Rahul Bojja (Hyderabad) and Raghunandan Rao (Ranga Reddy) and senior officials of various government heads of the departments.

Jithender has pointed out lot of traffic problems are being faced in some of the areas and there is every need to identify some of the alternative roads to curb traffic menace. In this contest the Additional Commissioner Traffic has suggested that to review the proposed road from Musaram Bagh all along with Musi to Imlibun. In this regard the GHMC Commissioner said that a survey will be conducted along with the department concerned in the coming days.

In the discussions held there are about 440 street light poles and 61 transformers which are obstructing the traffic causing much inconvenience to the citizens. To remove them, the GHMC will spend Rs. 1.95 crores. (INN)
