GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday informed that the corporation has demolished 485 unauthorised buildings during the last three days.
The Commissioner claimed that those buildings were constructed unauthorisedly on nalas and lakes. While 39 structures were demolished on Monday, 204 buildings each were demolished on Tuesday and Wednesday.
GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan and Commissioner Janardhan Reddy jointly reviewed the demolitions of the buildings in various areas of the twin cities. They also visited and inspected the demolition drive at Malkam Cheruvu.
The GHMC is planning to constitute a committee to identify all unauthorized constructions in the city and initiate action in a phased manner. The Deputy Commissioners concerned, one Engineer from lakes, building inspector, one official from HMWS&SB, UCD and an official from Revenue Department will be part of the proposed committee. (INN)
