GHMC to provide basic minimum facilities at polling stations

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and Election Authority Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy on Saturday directed the officials provide basic minimum facilities at all the polling stations on the Election Day on 2nd February.

The GHMC chief said drinking water, electrification, toilet facilities, ramps, shade to waiting voters, furniture, partitions and other basic minimum facilities would be provided. He also sanctioned an amount of Rs. 3.33 crores for the same.

Dr. Janardhan Reddy informed that of 4,062 nominations filed, 193 were rejected. There were 3,869 valid nominations. After the withdrawal of 1,298 aspirants, 1,333 candidates are in fary. There are more than 16 contesting candidates in five wards – Jangammet, Suraram, East Anandbagh, Ramanthapur and Balanagar. (INN)
