GHMC starts 100 days special campaign for beautifying Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The first General Body meeting of GHMC was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Mayor, Mr. B. Ram Mohan. There were many new faces including equal number of women. At the outset, rich tribute was paid to the martyrs of Telangana. All the Corporators observed two minutes silence. The Mayor requested the Corporators to extend their cooperation for building Golden Telangana. He also told that we should remember the sacrifice made by 1500 martyrs for the formation of separate Telangana State.

Giving the details of the resolutions passed in the General Body meeting, the Mayor told that roads extending 8000 km would be constructed at the cost of Rs. 6000 crore. In addition to construction and repair of roads, Skyways would be built. He informed that at important places within inner and outer ring roads, 2500 km road would be constructed. It may be mentioned that GHMC covers an area of 625 km. It would construct 54 road junctions and link roads. It will also construct 10 new graveyards at the cost of Re. 1 core each. 50 new bus bays would be constructed.

After the statement made by the Mayor about 100 days special campaign for beautifying Hyderabad, Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner of GHMC told that arrangements are being made to collect garbage from each house. He assured that the suggestions of the Corporators would receive attention. He further informed that steps would be taken to implement Shah Hatim Tank to Langar Houz development plan would be implemented as per the recommendations made by Kirloskar Committee. Steps would be taken for parking the cars from Nayapul to Salarjung Museum.
