Heptulla calls on PM, discusses development of Manipur

New Delhi: Newly appointed Governor of Manipur Najma Heptulla called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here and discussed various issues pertaining to the socio-economic development of the state.

In the meeting held yesterday, Heptulla said there was tremendous scope for promoting tourism in the state and the direct air connections from bigger cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore will “surely encourage” people to explore natural beauty and rich culture of Manipur, a Governor’s Secretariat release said today.

She said skill development of youths with special focus on women and linking them with micro-credits will not only boost creation of jobs but also encourage them to become entrepreneurs.

Heptulla apprised Modi about various campaigns of social concern which were being carried out in the state at a large scale and said efforts were being made to promote their objectives by launching mass campaign.

Modi appreciated the initiatives being taken by the Governor and also congratulated her for associating more people with the awareness campaigns.

He assured to extend all support and cooperation to the state for undertaking developmental activities and for promoting various socio-economic and educational initiatives.

Heptulla also met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him about the law and order situation in the state, the release said.
