Bangkok: Following the high-tech cheating scam, a university in Thailand forced to canceled its medical entrance examinations.
Rangsit University in Bangkok says that three female students were caught filming the exam paper using spy cameras linked to smartwatches to cheat during entrance exams.
Due to this high-tech method of cheating, some 3,000 students must retake entrance exams again on May 31 and June 1.
Arthit Ourairat, dean and president of Rangsit University said,
“This was the most high-tech exam cheating system I’ve ever seen.”
“On May 7, while students were taking an entrance examination, the lecturer spotted suspicious behaviors of four students,” said Naret Panthataratorn, deputy dean of Rangsit University.
Lecturers allegedly became suspicious over the thick-framed glasses and electronic wrist watches.
“They have found two pairs of glasses with a hidden camera inside the glass frame,” Naret said. “And three electronic wrist watches that are communication devices to receive answer from a ‘command center.”
The images of the exam sheets were transmitted to an outside team, who compiled answers and sent back to the student’s smartwatches.
