Hyderabad: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender has allocated an amount of Rs. 1,000 crore for Hyderabad Metro Water in the State Budget for 2016-17 which was presented in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday.
The amount proposed towards annuity payment by the Hyderabad Metro is Rs. 200. An amount of Rs. 650 crore is proposed towards assistance to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. The total amount proposed for the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department is Rs. 4,815 crore for the year 2016-17.
“Drinking water supply in urban areas will improve considerably with the completion of Mission Bhagirata. It is proposed to provide drinking water to about 190 villages along the Outer Ring Road through the Hyderabad Metro Works. Proposals are afoot to construct dedicated drinking water reservoirs. Traffic congestion in Hyderabad will ease with the completion of metro rail and the proposed Strategic Road Development Plan,” the Finance Minister said.
Eatala also informed that Rs. 100 crore each would be provided to Khammam, Ramagundem, Karimnagar and Nizamabad Municipal Corporations. Rs. 300 crore has been allocated for Municipal Corporation of Warangal. In addition, an amount of Rs. 500 crore is proposed in 2016-17 towards assistance to other municipalities in the State. (INN)
