Hyderabad: Youth succumbed to injuries during cricket match, father alleges foul play

Hyderabad: A youth who was injured during the cricket match on the Meeralam Cricket Ground died in hospital.

According to the reports, Mohammed Abdul Wajid (22), resident of Ranmastpura went to Meeralam Cricket Ground to play cricket on the insistence of his friends. During the match, he received a deep wound on his head. He was hospitalized in a private hospital in Kachiguda. Later, he was shifted to NIMS on the advice of the doctors. He was under treatment for the past two days. He succumbed to injuries. After his death, Bahadurpura Police shifted his dead body to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem. After the postmortem, the doctors handed over his body to the parents.

Mohammed Abdus Sattar, father of the deceased told that his friends telephoned his son and called him for playing cricket. They hit him on his head and murdered him. He alleged that his son was killed in an organized manner. He demanded the police to investigate the case.

ACP of Charminar, Mr. K. Ashok Chakravarti told that Bahadurpura police registered a case under section 304 (11) and started investigations. The initial investigations revealed that the youth died due to the deep wound on his head. Police are making an attempt to find out whether the wound was due to falling of the youth on the cricket ground or by hitting on his head by another youth.
