New Delhi: Asserting that the law will take its course in the death case of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of former union minister Shashi Tharoor, the Congress Party on Saturday said that indirect leakages and name dropping should stop immediately.
“The law will take its course. As far as Tharoor is concerned, this kind of indirect shuttle hints, leakage and name dropping should stop. The Congress believes that by deliberate planting leakages, by organized innuendos, attempts are being made to cast aspersions merely because Tharoor is a Congress person,” Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi told ANI.
“I think the time has come that in a two or three year old probe, unless the investigation is complete stop this politics of innuendo and insinuation,” he added.
The Delhi Police yesterday reaffirmed that the death of Sunanda Pushkar, was “not natural”, as evident from the final report by an AIIMS medical board after analysing the FBI’s findings on her viscera samples.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the Sunanda Pushkar case, may question Sunanda’s husband and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor once again in the case.
Delhi Police chief B S Bassi had said on Friday that, “The medical board report has been received and merits shall be ensured in the case. I can say with certainty that the death was not natural.”
Sunanda, who married Tharoor in 2010, was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a room at the Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi on the intervening night of January 16- 17, 2014. Police registered a murder case on January 1, 2015.
Prior to her death, Sunanda was embroiled in a spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, whom she accused of stalking her husband. (ANI)
