Indore administration creates green corridor to deliver liver to airport in ten minutes for transplant

Indore/Gurgaon: The Indore administration created a ‘Green Corridor’ in the city to carry a liver that was to be transplanted to a patient to ensure that the organ reaches its destination in Gurgaon in time.

Traffic from the Devi Ahlyabai Holkar Airport to the Choithram Hospital was stopped for ten minutes, while the ambulance made its way through the green corridor, a distance of about 10 kilometers, in 10 minutes.

Rameshwar Khede from Khargone District was declared brain dead after he met with an accident in Indore. He was being treated at the Choithram Hospital and Research Centre, and his family agreed to donate his organs.

The liver was transplanted into a 55-year-old female patient in Gurgaon, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital. Along with the liver, the donor’s corneas and kidneys have also been harvested. These have been transplanted in other patients at the Indore hospital itself.
