Iraqi families who fled the town

Iraqi families who fled the town of Hawija eat food as they take refuge in the nearby town of Sharqat, around 80 kilometres (50 miles) south of the city of Mosul, on September 23, 2016, the day after government forces recaptured the northern town from the Islamic State (IS) group. Security forces began the operation on September 20, 2016 to oust the Islamic State group from Sharqat, a town near supply lines needed for the battle to retake second city Mosul from the jihadists.
