Jisha rape: Post-mortem confirms 38 injuries, badly mutilated body

Perumbavur: The post-mortem report of 30-year-old law student has confirmed that she was brutally and sexually assaulted before being murdered, police sources said on Wednesday.

“There were 38 wounds on her body. The report has also indicated rape,” they said, without elaborating further on the postmortem report prepared by the Forensic Department of Alappuzha Medical College.

As per the autopsy report, the victim suffered a fatal injury. Two sides of her chest were pierced to almost two inches deep using a sharp object.

The report also established that sharp weapon pushed inside her private part which pierced her uterus that pulled out her intestines. She was also struck in the genitals with an iron rod. A severe injury on her head caused her sudden death.

Yesterday, police had released the sketch of the suspect in the case.

Jisha, a 27-year-old law student, who hailed from a poor family, was allegedly murdered at her house at nearby Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district on April 28. A post-mortem had revealed 38 big and small wounds on her body.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case, though three persons have been picked up for questioning. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan had visited the mother of the victim at Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital, yesterday.
