Joe Root banned from celebrating victory at Walkabout

Wellington, August 1: England vice-captain Joe Root has been banned from celebrating England’s triumph in the third Ashes Test in Birmingham’s Walkabout bar.

The decision was taken in regard to the 2013 Champions Trophy incident, where Root was punched by Australian opener David Warner in the city’s Antipodean theme bar after England’s Edgbaston success over Australia.

England bowler Stuart Broad wrote on Twitter, “Don’t worry people, I’ll keep him out the Walkabout tonight”, Stuff reported.

England’s eight-wicket win on Friday gave them a 2-1 lead in the five-match series and skipper Alastair Cook has ensured that there would be no repetition of the previous bar-room brawl.

England stormed to a eight-wicket win over a shoddy Australia side in the third Ashes Test to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series on Friday at a jubilant Edgbaston.

The hosts chased down a paltry target of 121 within 32.1 overs, thanks to Ian Bell’s fluent 65 not out and Joe Root’s unbeaten 38.(ANI)
