historic buildings

Decision by the Telangana government to dismantle Osmania Hospital has raised question on the safeguard of other historical edifices. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has suddenly decided to dismantle Osmania Hospital building while according to highly placed sources some other historical buildings are also on the agenda of the chief Minister.

Historical buildings are being dismantled on the pretext of their precariousness and dilapidation while there are several other buildings in the city built before Asif Jahi Sultanate. According to the sources close to Chief Minister, the other structures included in the hit list of the chief minister are High Court, old Assembly building, Jubilee Hall and King Kothi Hospital. Name of Asif Jahi Sultanate especially the name of the 7th Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan is associated with these heritage structures. Once the Osmania hospital building is dismantled it will pave the way for dismantling of other heritage structures too.

Chief Minister is made to believe that by constructing new buildings he can associate his name with them. Communal forces have succeeded in making the government believe that the heritage structures must be dismantled on the pretext of their precariousness so that the identity of Hyderabad does not remain with the historical buildings made during Asif Jahi Sultanate.
