KCR derails Congress plan to stall Assembly proceedings

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao today displayed his “Chanakyan” political diplomacy in the Assembly on Saturday when he diligently derailed the attempts of the Congress party to hijack the proceedings of the House on the Hyderabad Central University and Osmania University affairs.
The Congress party moved an adjournment motion on the issues concerning the two universities, but Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy firmly stuck to the decision taken at the BAC meetings and promptly took up the question hour. The Congress members then stormed the well and disrupted the proceedings by raising slogans and insisting that their adjournment motion should be taken up. Amidst high drama enacted in this regard, the House had to be adjourned thrice.
At one stage, the Chief Minister intervened and tried to make the agitated Congress members to see reason and allow the question hour to continue and that they have ample opportunity to discuss the HCU and OU matters during the debate on Home Department demands. But the Congress remained firm and seemed determined to have an upper hand over the ruling party.
However, the Chief Minister sprung a surprise when the House reassembled after a third adjournment. Even as the Congress members were trying to resume their protests, the Chief Minister informed that the House could take up the discussion on the issues concerned to HCU and OU after the Home Minister makes a statement on the same. He completely bowled the Congress party which seemed determined to disrupt the proceedings and then gain a brownie point by forcing the House to be adjourned for the day without transacting any business. But their sinister move seemed to have boomeranged with the clever move of the Chief Minister. (NSS).
