KCR meets Guv to seek AP Secretariat buildings

In a significant development, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao understood to have urged Governor ESL Narasimhan to allot buildings on Andhra Pradesh Secretariat premises toTelangana State.

The meeting assumes significance as KCR is planning to construct a new Secretariat in the existing premises in a sprawling campus that will almost double the space of buildings to be built. KCR called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan and made this appeal in the wake of the Telangana Government’s plan to construct a new Secretariat on the same premises.

As Andhra Pradesh Government has vacated all the five buildings here and shifted to Vijaywada andGuntur, the Chief Minister appealed to Narasimhan to allot them to the government for new Secretariat, it is learnt. Though the AP Government can stay put on the premises for 10 years, in which two-and-a-half years are over, as per AP Reorganization Act, it accorded priority to offer governance from Amaravathi. It is likely that the Governor is to take a call on the issue. (NSS)
