King of Bahrain gives Rs 9 lakh to Odisha man, who carried wife’s body on shoulder

Bhubaneswar: Dana Majhi was forced to carry his wife’s body on his shoulder for 10 kms due to alleged lack of ambulance received Rs 8.87 lakh assistance from the King of Bahrain.

Moved by reports of Dana Majhi carrying his wife’s body on his shoulder for burial in Odisha, the Bahrain government has reportedly offered to extend financial help to the grieving family.

According to Indian Express reports, Majhi received the money donated by Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in the form of a Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait cheque at the Bahrain Embassy in New Delhi.

“I am feeling very happy. I will keep this money in the bank for the education of my three daughters. I hope they get good education and jobs,” said Majhi.

On August 24, in Odisha’s backward Kalahandi district, Majhi was forced to carry his wife’s body on his shoulder, died of tuberculosis a day before at the district hospital at Bhawanipatna.
