Kishan Reddy meets DGP; wants demands of home guards conceded

Telangana BJP floor leader in the Assembly G Kishan Reddy today urged Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to resolve the problems of Home Guards, who were serving the State on par with permanent police constables.

Kishan Reddy met the DGP in his office and submitted a memorandum to this effect. He demanded that the government implement benefits on the lines of the recommendations of the committee headed by Kaumudi, IPS. He said the services of home guards were being utilized in various departments in both the States like law and order, task force, GHMC and Traffic wing. But they were not getting scales on par with police constables, he said. The BJP leader also demanded abolition of the despicable orderly system in the Police department and treat the Home Guards as employees of the State government.

The BJP leader urged the DGP to concede the justified demands of the home guards. The demands include: Implementation of latest Minimum Wage Act promulgated by the Centre, Reservation of 50 per cent jobs to home guards as police constables, after three years of service the home guards should be given promotion as police constable, payment of lump sum gratuity of Rs 5 lakh on retirement at the age of 60.
