KTR proposes 3-Tier development plan for Hyderabad

Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has directed the officials to prepare plan for development of Hyderabad in a phased manner.

Addressing a review meeting after assuming charge as the Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, KTR said that the first phase should be for 100 days, second for three years and third phase should be of five years. He discussed issues pertaining to various departments. The meeting was attended by the officials of GHMC, HMDA, HMWSSB, Metro Rail, Town Planning and other departments.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that the TRS Government, in its manifesto for GHMC elections, has promised to develop Hyderabad as a truly global city. He said the cooperation of all departments was essential in achieving this goal. He said with effective coordination among different departments, Hyderabad city could be developed at a faster pace.

KTR asked the officials to streamline the system of collection of Property Tax while focussing in increasing the revenues of GHMC. He said immediate steps should be taken to prevent unauthorised constructions in the city. He also stressed on cleaning of nalas and proper maintenance of drainage system. He said steps should be taken on war-footing to resolve the drinking water problem in the city.

The minister directed the top officials to visit bastis and slum areas to get first hand information on the problems being faced by the people. He also announced that separate WhatsApp Groups would be formed for all 150 municipal wards so as to increase coordination among the officials. (INN)
