KTR pulls up Nalgonda Collector on Shanvi’s death

IT Minister KT Rama Rao today expressed serious displeasure at Nalgonda district Collector Satyanarayana Reddy and other officials for borewell incident in which a two-year old girl Shanvi died despite rescue operations continued for about 12 hours.
The incident took place at Vallala village under Shaligowraram mandal in the district and efforts failed to bring her out alive and handed over the body of the girl to the parents. Knowing about the incident, KT Rama Rao rang up Collector Satyanarayana Reddy and pulled him up for not taking immediate steps to close the borewells dug up and left open in the district.
According to the information, the tiny-tot fell into the borewell and screamed while rescue operations went on Monday from 3 pm to 3 am on Tuesday that proved in vain. He also directed the Collector to file a criminal case against the borewell owner and take stringent measures against the officials responsible. KTR said the State government has already asked the official machinery to take steps in this regard and there was no response yet. Besides creating awareness among people on such open borewells, the minister directed them to provide work to workers under Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. (NSS)
