Leopard mauls toddler to death in Dhar

New Delhi: A two-year-old child was mauled to death by a leopard at Mandu city near here, following which the animal was captured on Monday, forest officials said.

“The leopard got hold of Gopal late last night, while he was asleep with his mother on a cot in their house compound,” Dhar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gaurav Choudhary said.

“Though Gopal’s mother raised an alarm and cried for help, the leopard dragged the infant to a drain two kms away from the spot and killed him,” the DFO added.

After getting information, an animal rescue team from Indore was rushed to Mandu. The team set up a cage and the leopard was captured, Choudhary said.
